BIOGRAPHY
ChM Dr. Thiruventhan Karunakaran is an organic chemist and spectroscopist specializing in natural product chemistry and medicinal chemistry. He is a registered chemist under the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM) and serves as a committee member for the Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry Division (IKMOBCD) and Northern Branch. He is also an active committee member of the Malaysian Natural Products Society (MNPS).
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Thiruventhan is currently working in the fields of natural product chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, and organic spectroscopy (NMR & LCMS) for drug identification and profiling. He is currently conducting research on developing analytical and spectroscopic methods to detect and identify psychoactive metabolites and their isomers found in psychoactive plants and other substances. He is also an expert in drug isomerism.
