BIOGRAPHY
Mohd Azhar is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the School of Medical Sciences, University Sains Malaysia, and a Consultant Psychiatrist at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, where he also heads the Addiction Unit. After graduating from University Sains Malaysia in 1997, he obtained his Master of Medicine in Psychiatry in 2006. He furthered his expertise with training at Cumberland Hospital, Sydney, and a fellowship at Yale University.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
His academic and clinical efforts are centered on the filed of addiction through WISER (WHolistic Initiative for Substance Abuse: Education and Research), the Addiction Unit in the Department of Psychiatry. His research explores psychiatry, neuro-immunology, and addiction medicine, and he has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles in these fields.
