BIOGRAPHYDr. Shariffah Suraya SYED JAMALUDIN is a Senior Lecturer at the Section of Anthropology and Sociology, School of Social Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her research area is Medical Anthropology/Anthropology of Health where she specializes and has expertise in the studies on the well-being of postpartum mothers. She teaches courses such as Medical Anthropology and Religion and Social Relations for undergraduate students.
RESEARCH INTERESTSMy research interest lies in the Anthropology of Health, with a particular focus on the postpartum women, exploring their healthcare experiences and the traditional dietary practices. Currently, my research has expanded to include traditional and complementary medicine (T&CM), where recently I have completed the FRGS grant examining the role of traditional and complementary medicine in supporting the health tourism industry in Malaysia.
