BIOGRAPHY
With more than 15 of experience in genome editing, Kumitaa focuses on developing CRISPR as a gene therapy for infectious diseases. Her work has been published in high-impact journals including Nature Medicine and Nature’s Scientific Reports. She is a chair for a sub-committee of Malaysia’s Genetic Modification Advisory Committee, and is part of the genome editing technical expert group of United Nations. She is also a TEDx speaker.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Harnessing genome editing to better understand host-virus interactions, investigating drug resistant mutations in viruses, and developing therapeutic tools for infectious diseases focusing on HIV.
