BIOGRAPHYDr. Nik Zuraina is a lecturer at the Department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She received her PhD in medical microbiology from USM. Her research covers molecular biology, bacteriology, and parasitology, focusing on probiotics, vaccine development, tuberculosis, and multidrug-resistant pathogens. She is also involved in diagnostics and pathogen screening from clinical, environmental, and community sources.
RESEARCH INTERESTSMolecular biology of bacterial and parasitic pathogens; bacteriology and antimicrobial resistance; probiotics and gut microbiota; vaccine development; tuberculosis detection and surveillance (Malaysian strains); diagnostic tool development; and metagenomics.
