BIOGRAPHY
Dr Shida Irwana Omar is a senior lecturer at the School of Housing, Building and Planning, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She received her PhD in Tourism Planning (2017), MSc in Planning (2003), and BSc in Housing, Building and Planning (2002), all from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her research interests focus on tourist behaviour, tourism product development and hospitality management. She can be reached via email at irwanizar@usm.my.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
My primary research interest lies in understanding tourist behaviour and their needs for tourism products in a particular area. I am especially interested in translational studies where I translate insights from tourism studies into actionable strategies or outputs, to enhance tourist experiences, fostering sustainable practices and contributing to the economic development of local stakeholders, primarily the community and business.
