BIOGRAPHY
Sharifah R.S. Dawood is Associate Professor in the Geography Section at the School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her primary research interests include economic geography, regional development and innovation, urban sociology, transportation and urban sustainability. She has published book chapters, online research reports, technical reports, as well as research articles in both national and international journals.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research focuses on the spatial dimensions of economic transformation with particular emphasis on regional development, innovation systems, and sustainable urbanisation. I am interested to explore how geography influences industrial dynamics, mobility patterns, and urban governance in emerging economies. My work also explores place based leadership and the evolving role of universities as anchor institutions in regional innovation ecosystems.
