BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Siti Nor Syairah Binti Anis is a lecturer at the School of Biological Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She specializes in microbial biopolymer synthesis and medical biomaterials. She holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Universiti Malaya, a Master’s degree in Industrial Microbiology from USM, and completed her postdoctoral training at the UTM–IJN Cardiovascular Engineering Centre.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Her research focuses on the synthesis of biopolymers and the fabrication of biomaterials. Biopolymer production from bacterial cells involves various approaches, including biofermentation, recovery and purification processes, degradation studies, and physicochemical characterization. The resulting biopolymers are then used to develop functional biomaterials with potential applications in drug delivery systems and tissue engineering.
