BIOGRAPHYDr. Nik holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from USM, a Master of Medical Sciences (Physiology) from UKM, and a PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences from the University of Manchester, UK. She previously served in various hospitals and clinics across Malaysia before joining the School of Dental Sciences, USM, as a medical lecturer in 2009. Since then, she has been actively involved in teaching, research, and academic development.
RESEARCH INTERESTSDr. Nik’s research focuses on cardiovascular physiology, particularly the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic strategies involved in cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure. She also explores the molecular connections between cardiovascular and oral health. Through integrative, translational approaches targeting key signalling pathways and gene regulation, her work aims to bridge medical and dental research to enhance overall patient care.
