BIOGRAPHY
Mohd Ashraf Mohamad Ismail is a Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at USM. He specializes in geotechnics, engineering geology, rock engineering, applied geophysics, and advanced geotechnical modeling. His research encompasses tunneling, slope stability, geohazards, and UAV-based photogrammetry, while integrating GIS, digital mapping, reality capture, and innovative geospatial methods for advancing civil and geological engineering application.

RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research interests focus on geotechnical modeling, slope stability, tunneling/underground excavation, and geophysical methods for subsurface characterization including UAV-based mapping, GIS integration and image analysis, while promoting sustainable underground infrastructure. Recently, I'm focusing on artificial intelligence in geotechnics to develop innovative, smarter, and predictive engineering solutions for the future.
