BIOGRAPHY
Before his current role, Dr. Jap gained valuable experience as a project manager, overseeing the scientific monitoring of Lake Putrajaya and its wetlands. He also worked as a water resources manager for a water treatment company in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His expertise spans environmental science and management, particularly in water quality assessment and ecosystem monitoring, which have been central to his professional and academic journey.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Jap researches toxin-producing cyanobacteria in water bodies, microbial ecology, algae and environmental forensics. His work includes drinking water quality, plastic degradation using microbes, and beneficial Antarctic microbes. He collaborates internationally, including in Indonesia, the UK, and Antarctica. He joined British Antarctic Survey expeditions in 2015, 2016, and 2023.
