BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Jap graduated with first-class honors from Universiti Malaya, obtained an MSc in Water Science, Policy, and Management from the University of Oxford, and earned a PhD in Environmental Microbiology from the University of Leeds, UK. Prior to his current role, he served as a project manager, overseeing the scientific monitoring of Lake Putrajaya and its wetlands, and as a water resources manager at a water treatment company in Kuala Lumpur.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Jap teaches environmental management, environmental science, environmental impact assessment, environmental forensics, and environmental microbiology. His research revolves around toxin-producing cyanobacteria or blue-green algae, specifically focusing on their presence and impact in drinking water reservoirs within Malaysia. He joined expeditions to Antarctica with the British Antarctic Survey in 2015, 2016, and 2023.
