BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Mohamad Hafizi Abu Bakar, a Senior Lecturer at USM and Research Fellow at IPHARM, specializes in cell culture, metabolomics, and cultured meat bioprocessing. Holding a PhD in Bioprocess Engineering, he has earned multiple awards, including USM’s Anugerah Sanggar Sanjung (2018–2023), with over 1,000 citations recognizing his contributions to biotechnology and cellular agriculture.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research interests are devoted, but are not limited to, cell-based technology and cellular agriculture involving cultivated/cultured meat and media development/formulation utilizing bioprocessing approaches. Also, I'm currently investigating the therapeutics target of pharmacologically-active compounds derived from natural products against metabolic diseases.
