BIOGRAPHY

Noorfatimah Yahaya is an analytical chemist at the Pusat Kanser Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, USM. She specializes in separation science, bioanalysis and green sample preparation. Her research develops smart extraction materials and microextraction technologies to detect trace contaminants and therapeutic drugs. She received the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award for greener extraction methods for personalized dosing.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Her research focuses on environmental monitoring, bioanalysis, green analytical chemistry, and smart extraction materials. She develops sensitive methods to detect contaminants such as PFAS, antibiotics, pesticides, and endocrine disruptors in water and food. Her work also supports precision medicine by analysing drugs in biological samples using sustainable extraction techniques and selective materials such as molecularly imprinted polymers.
