BIOGRAPHY
Suraiyati binti Rahman is an academician at the School of Housing, Building and Planning, USM, with expertise in heritage tourism, sustainable planning, and food security governance. She has led funded research projects, published academic work, and received awards for teaching innovation. A certified MyCREST facilitator, she previously chaired the Urban and Regional Planning programme and serves on MIP’s Research and Education Committee.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Sustainable tourism, heritage tourism management, tourism management, tourism carrying capacity, resilience and food security, and impact of STRA—focusing on inclusive planning and governance mechanisms to strengthen community resilience and safeguard cultural and natural heritage in urban and rural contexts.
