BIOGRAPHYDr. Mohamad Hafizi Abu Bakar, a Senior Lecturer at USM and Research Fellow at IPHARM, specializes in cell culture, metabolomics, and cultured meat bioprocessing. Holding a PhD in Bioprocess Engineering, he has earned multiple national and inetrnational awards, including USM’s Anugerah Sanggar Sanjung (2018–2023),TWAS & ICGEB grants, with over 1,000 citations recognizing his contributions to medical biotechnology and cellular agriculture.
RESEARCH INTERESTSMy research focuses on cell-based technologies and cellular agriculture, particularly the development of cultivated/cultured meat platforms through innovative growth media formulation and scalable bioprocessing strategies. Concurrently, my work explores the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic targets of pharmacologically active natural products in the context of metabolic diseases, integrating cellular, biochemical, and translational approaches.
