BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Yanny Marliana Baba Ismail is an associate professor in Materials Engineering at the School of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering. Her primary research expertise lies in advanced materials, particularly ceramics. She was honored as the sole recipient from USM of the prestigious Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment in 2019. Most recently, she was distinguished as a laureate of the L’Oréal-UNESCO FWIS Award 2024.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Yanny specializes in advanced materials, particularly bioceramics and electroceramics, emphasizing innovative ceramic processing and materials characterization. She is a ceramist by practice, focusing extensively on novel ceramic bone scaffolds and functional ceramics like supercapacitors for biomedical and electronic applications. Additionally, she focuses on transforming zero-value waste into valuable inorganic compounds for her research.
